Panasonic has released 8GB and 16GB SDHC cards adhering to the SD association's latest UHS-I specification. Both memory cards have maximum read speeds of up to 60MB/s and Class 10 speed specification complementing 3D and full HD video recording features of recently released cameras. Like the company's 'Gold' line of memory cards, it features protection against power failures and a Super Intelligent Controller that cleans up errors preventing data damage. The memory cards will be available from November 2010.
파나소닉은 SD 연합의 가장 최신 규격인 UHS-I 규격을 적용한 8GB 그리고 16GB SDHC 카드를 발표했다. 이 두 가지 메모리 카드는 최근 발표되고 있는 카메라들의 3D 및 Full HD 동영상 촬영 기능을 보완하는 것으로 최대 읽기 속도 60MB/초 그리고 클래스 10 속도의 규격을 갖는다. 이 회사의 Gold 메모리 라인업처럼, 이것 역시 전원 문제에 대한 보호 기능과 데이터 손상을 방지하도록 오류를 없애는 Super Intelligent Controller를 가지고 있다. 이 메모리 카드들은 2010년 9월부터 이용할 수 있다.

Panasonic Introduces New 8GB* and 16GB High-Speed SDHC UHS-I Memory Cards
Berlin, Germany (September 1, 2010) – Panasonic announced today its newest 8GB and 16GB SDHC UHS-I Memory Cards – the RP-SDY08G and RP-SDY16G. UHS-I is the new standard for higher-speed Bus interface defined by the SD Association as part of the SD Memory Card Specification Ver.3.01, which provides up to 104MB/s performance. Both memory cards have maximum data transfer speed of up to 60MB/s and Class10 speed specification.
여기서 중요한 대목은 UHS-I에 대한 설명 부분인데요, SD 메모리 카드 규격 3.01의 일부인 Higher-speed Bus Interface의 규격이라고 합니다. 최고 속도 104MB/초의 성능까지 올라갈 수 있다고 하는군요.
With the higher reading speed of up to 60MB/s, the 8GB and 16GB Memory Cards can transfer data to a PC more than two times faster than Panasonic’s current Memory Cards. These also offer stable writing performance with Class 10 speed specification, ensuring highly-reliable 3D and full HD video recording.
이들 8GB, 16GB 메모리 카드의 최대 읽기 속도는 60MB/초인데, 이것은 기존 파나소닉 메모리 카드의 2배에 해당한다고 하는군요.
Like the current Gold model memory cards from Panasonic, the RP-SDY08G and RP-SDY16G both incorporate Super Intelligent Controller (SICS), which is designed for high-level data protection. The Power Failure Protection function automatically retrieves data when power suddenly fails and preserves important data. This high power failure protection is certified by TUV Rheinland, by passing their power on-off test.
Super Intelligent Controller(SICS)는 고레벨 데이터 보호를 목적으로 설계된 것이라고 하고요, Power Failure Protection은 전원이 갑자기 끊겼을 때 데이터를 수신 받고 중요한 데이터를 보존하기 위한 것이라고 합니다.
More than ten times longer archival life has been achieved by the Refresh function. The Super Intelligent Controller automatically cleans up accumulated errors, extending card life. Also, Smart Data Writing equalizes the rewrite frequency on each writing area of the card to prevent rewriting in a specific area, thereby minimizing the defect risk of the card.
Both the RP-SDY08G and RP-SDY16G Memory Card models will be available from November, 2010.
