| 교통단속 경찰 얼굴에 “탕!”…충격 영상 공개 | |

미국 아칸소 주(州)의 한 경찰관이 지난해 교통단속 중 총탄에 맞아 숨지기 전 가해자에게 살려달라고 애원하는 모습이 담긴 대시보드 카메라 영상이 7일(현지시간) 공개됐다. The 20-minute dashcam video from Trumann police officer Jonathan Schmidt's vehicle shows the events of the April 2011 nighttime traffic stop when Jerry Lard opened fire on two police officers. 20분 분량의 이 영상은 아칸소 주 트루먼 시의 경찰관 조너선 슈밋의 차량에 설치된 대시보드 카메라가 촬영한 것이다. 영상에는 2011년 4월 12일 밤 제리 러드가 교통단속 중이던 경찰 2명에게 총격을 가하는 장면이 담겨 있다. Lard was sitting in the back of the vehicle that Schmidt pulled over after a license plate check showed it might not have insurance. After the driver is handcuffed and questioned, Schmidt asks Lard for his name and date of birth. 당시 슈밋 경관은 문제의 차량 번호를 조회해 무보험 차량일 수 있다는 판단을 한 뒤 길 한쪽에 대도록 조치 했다. 러드는 차량 뒷좌석에 앉아있었다. 슈밋 경관은 먼저 운전자 손에 수갑을 채우고 심문을 한 다음 러드에게도 이름과 출생년월일을 물어본다.  When Schmidt opens the back passenger door where Lard was sitting a hand can be seen reaching out and firing at the officer's face before Lard runs from the car and continues firing at Schmidt and another officer on the scene, Corey Overstreet. Lard cursed and yelled at the officers. 슈밋 경관이 러드가 앉아있던 뒷좌석의 문을 여는 순간, 러드는 한 손을 뻗어 슈밋 경관의 얼굴에 총탄을 쏜다. 그는 차량에서 내리면서 슈밋 경관과 현장에 있던 다른 경찰관 코리 오버스트리트에게 계속해서 총격을 가했다. 러드는 경찰관들에게 욕설을 퍼붓고 소리를 질렀다. As the video continues, Schmidt can be heard pleading with Lard off-camera: "Please don't shoot me. Please don't shoot me again." 영상이 계속되는 가운데, 슈밋 경관이 카메라에 잡히지 않은 곳에서 “제발 나를 쏘지마. 또 다시 쏘지 마”라고 러드에게 애원하는 소리가 들린다. Following two more gunshots Overstreet can be heard talking to Schmidt as the two officers waited for ambulances to arrive. "We've got help coming, buddy," said Overstreet. Schmidt later died from his wounds. 두 차례 총성이 더 울린 뒤, 오버스트리트 경관이 구급차가 도착하길 기다리면서 슈밋 경관에게 말을 거는 소리가 들린다. 오버스트리트 경관은 “도와줄 사람이 오고 있어, 친구”라고 말한다. 슈밋 경관은 이후 부상으로 숨졌다. Lard was wounded in the shootout and was arrested on the scene.
